KONG Stuffing: Difficult

If your dog is breezing through the KONG Stuffing Easy and KONG Stuffing Moderate levels its time to step up your game.   A dog that can quickly munch down a frozen KONG needs some serious stuffing.  Below are a few things to make the game a little more difficult.

Get A More Difficult KONG
First step is to evaluate the KONG itself.  If you have a growing puppy they might have outgrown the difficulty level and need a larger stronger KONG.  Check to make sure you are at a good difficulty level for your dog.  Dogs with stronger jaws will be able to finish an easy KONG quickly.  Use the KONG's Sizing Chart  to get the right size.  If you find you are at the right size try a more challenging form like the KONG Stuff -A-Ball.

KONG On A Rope
Take the KONG and tie a rope through it.  Make sure the knot is resting on the small opening and fill it with a tasty treat.  Hang the KONG upside down in an area where your dog can reach it but with some jumping or bumping.  You can tie it to a low hanging branch, the deck or under open stairs.  Your dog will have to spend time hitting the KONG to make items fall out.  Its like a pinata for your pup!

Twice Frozen KONGs
Fill a few KONGS with treats and fill with broth, yogurt or peanut butter and freeze.  Once they are fully frozen place a few in a container and fill with broth and re-freeze them.  This creates a big block with a few KONGs suspended inside.  Give this to your dog outside or in an easy to clean area as it will be messy.  Your dog must eat through the ice to free the KONGS then eat the individual KONGS.

Stuff Tight and Freeze
If you fully pack a difficult KONG tightly so items are wedged in then fill it with broth and freeze your dog will have to work very hard to first melt the liquid then dislodge the items from the KONG.  The harder it is to get them the harder it is to get them out, so make sure you shove those treats in.

KONGs are a great way to entertain your dog but just remember you need to supervise your pup while they play with them and keep changing how you stuff them to keep your pup actively engaged and entertained.  If your pup has a weight problem we suggest you try the above with a light version of stuffers.
